Environmental Learning Center at Wolf Ridge

Saint Mark's offers hands-on, week-long, off campus environmental learning at ELC, for students in Grade 6.

Founded in 1971, Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center was the first environmental learning center in the nation to be accredited as a K-12 school and is recognized nationally and internationally as a leader in environmental education (www.wolf-ridge.org).

The Wolf Ridge Mission is to:

    • Foster awareness, curiosity and sensitivity to the natural world
    • Provide lifelong learning experiences in nature
    • Develop social understanding, respect and cooperation
    • Model values, behaviors and technologies, which lead to a sustainable lifestyle
    • Promote the concepts of conservation and stewardship
    • The five day accredited all-encompassing curriculum and experience for Saint Mark’s 6th Graders at Wolf Ridge ELC advances our mission by affording:
      • The privilege to stand as a community in prayer in Nature’s Cathedral
      • Immersion in a “No Walls” school wrapped around the message of environmental responsibility and respect
      • A remote setting, free of everyday distractions, which breaks down personal barriers and expands friendships
      • An opportunity to enhance self-esteem, personal confidence and pride through physical challenges and team building activities
      • Timeless memories of a life-changing experience
