Engage, learn, and make friends!
Students in Grades 1 through 5 have the option of participating in Book Club at Saint Mark’s. Grade level clubs are led solely by parent volunteers and meet monthly to discuss book selections. Information and registration forms are sent home in the Fall. Books are selected based on appropriate reading level, student interest, and seasonal themes.
Book Club meetings are held after school for one hour in our classrooms. During this time, groups discuss the books they've read, complete a related project, and have a snack.
Book Club is a wonderful opportunity to instill a love of reading in all students while also encouraging parent involvement in the younger grades. Being a part of Book Club provides students a chance to read and learn about new books and authors, and the book discussions help students work on reading comprehension, as well as verbal skills. The monthly meetings with the same group members also allow for a year-long bonding experience with peers.
